The film made its U.S. premiere at the New York Film Festival, its European Premiere as the Opening Night of San Sebastian International Film Festival, and made its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. The film was also presented in IMAX at Los Angeles’s TCL Chinese Theatre on October 18 as Opening Night of the Animation is Film Festival.

What started as an outlier in the Marvel Comics Universe and then became fully integrated into said world with its characters shared across almost all the company’s projects finally comes to an end. Your level of satisfaction with this last chapter will be in line with your acceptance of the basic structure of almost all Marvel projects.

Volume 3 of Guardians of the Galaxy shares the franchise’s penchant for fantastic visuals highlighting imaginative new worlds with recognisable rock songs to help create momentum. It also features characters that are written well within the lines. This gives things a comforting familiarity but one open for a slight expansion of backstory. This time the highlights are the details about Rocket’s (Bradley Cooper) origin story.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>//

The craft in the script is illustrated by making you never feel entirely convinced in the veracity of their story even though they seem to be true believers. This is also mirrored by slight discrepancies in the TV news pieces. This doubt gives things a more than unsettling edge. The violence is also more implied than shown which also allows the mind to feel the threat and urgency of their actions.

As director and one member of the screenplay writing team who based it on the novel, The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay, M. Night Shyamalan is at his creepy best. When one of his projects succeeds, his style imbues the proceedings with an otherworldly feeling that is quite engaging. This is one of those triumphs.
