When his beloved wife Sarah (Rachel Brosnahan) is tragically murdered, it brings something out in Heller that many never even imagined. Few saw the determination he possessed to avenge the death of his wife and he is allowed to train in the black arts. Even then he is still treated with a level of disdain that proves completely unwarranted.

Once in the field he uses this dismissal to his advantage. Being underestimated plays to his strengths and lacking the brawn only accentuates the power of his analytic brain. There are some bumps in the road and victims while not completely innocent are sweep up into the escalating violence.

In contrast to most stories of this ilk, he never loses his moral compass and the end when it does come is played out in an unexpected way. The underlying themes play to a healthy distrust of people in powerful positions and a few do get their comeuppance. The focus never leaves the thought that you can never judge a person by the obvious criteria and finding out the hidden depth of Heller is a satisfying adventure.

The launch kicked off at 11:00pm AEST, Thursday April 18, with a live-streamed countdown showing the journey into space.

After one hour, the craft reached its peak at 125,000 feet above the Earth, revealing the trailer with a custom introduction video from our stars: Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry. Keanu Reeves still nails the role and having someone with limited acting chops playing the role of the proverbially ‘talk softly and carry a big stick’ kind of guy works towards the film’s success. He also has another dog this time and it’s to the film’s credit that the pouch makes it to the end credits alive.

The film picks up shortly after the moment where part one left off (four days to be exact) and the two would make a great side by side movie marathon, if you can handle that much blood shed. All of the important living characters have returned and Ian McShane and John Leguizamo reprise their roles from the originall and are a more than welcome addition.

It must be said however that enjoying the film was hampered by the theatre’s sound system that delivered one of the most over the top loud and horrendously shrill sonic experiences ever endured in the cinema. It really was too much.

Nic is The Cook, during his day job, a mild mannered chef and a pillar of the community, after hours, a stone cold criminal running drugs across the border. So far so good. International in flavour, the film covers the cocaine trade from cultivation to distribution. It also examines the nuts and bolts of the drug trade from both the criminal and law enforcement side. This sets up multiple storylines that dovetail as the film progresses.

Moved along by unsavoury characters, inept criminals and cops that bend the rules, the dead bodies pile up. As things progress there are a good number of twists and turns, some you will see coming, some you will not. When the film reaches its final conclusion, it will challenge your perceptions of due process and the application of justice.
