Escape Room Movie Review
It’s with the effort to involve the audience with the latter that the film runs into a conundrum of its own. The clues that the gamers on-screen must figure out to advance in the game are almost impenetrable to viewers. Very few discernible clues are given. So the experience become less a problem solving exercise and more a conventional horror show.

As the brain test turns to terror, the proceedings become less cerebral and instead impart a higher level of slow ...
Cold Pursuit Movie Review
Liam Neeson (a snow ploughman this time) continues his on-screen proclivity to lose or misplace family members and when his only son is killed, he goes on a murderous rampage of revenge. This premise is used as a set up for some very sick laughs.
//
At first the ultra violence is a bit off-putting but you soon throw off those limitations and laugh at all the wrong moments. There are some quite clever running gags and visual jokes that illicit consistent laughs.

On The Basis Of Sex Movie Review
The filmmakers have wisely chosen a single case to focus on and it formed an important milestone in Bader Ginsburg’s career. In it she took on generations of prejudice based on gender in American law and won her first important case. In a life filled with many major accomplishments, trying to feature too many cases would have defused the film’s impact.

The story also sheds a spotlight on how marginalised women were in American society in the fifties, sixties ...
All The Devil’s Men DVD Review
All The Devil’s Men involves globe trotting mercenaries and more than its fair share of clandestine meetings and bullet ridden shoot outs. An adventure filled with double and triple crosses, all done to make the planet safe from those pesky stray nuclear warheads.
//
This script adds danger on top of danger until you get to the point on not really knowing what the hell is going on. That does little to detract from the gun totting, cliche spitting, macho action ...
Songs and Times Of Sam Cooke Review
Songs and Times Of Sam Cooke pays homage to his musical career through the voice and stagecraft of Australian born Gary Pinto and his crack six piece band. The night was broken down into two sets, with a short intermission in the middle. The first set focused on the more ballad side of his art, while the second set was more up-tempo and included more audience participation.

After a few hiccups with the sound during the beginning of the first set (the voice too low ...
The Front Runner Movie Review
Whether interest in the accountability of public figures was an illusion or a reality then, it seemed to be something that mattered. It might have just been the burgeoning interest in the salacious details of the famous, but one can hope it was something more.
//
The film’s evenhanded look even includes some consideration for the victims of the affair, the wife and the lady in question. It also shows Hart’s narcissistic stance and lack of caring for either. He ...
Ben Is Back Movie Review
Roberts is the loving parent of Ben (played in a star turn by Lucas Hedges) who is home for the holidays. Ben, an ex-junkie in recovery brings a lot of baggage with him. This manifests itself in mother and son getting pulled back into the dark world of drugs, those that sell and those that use.
//
It’s at this point in the proceedings that the story changes tract and morphs into thriller mode. The tension rises and rises as the mother refuses to give up on her son. ...
Green Book Movie Review
Italian American Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen) is a salt of the earth kind of guy who is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a hyper intelligent and cultured man of colour through the American South for a musical tour in the sixties. They couldn’t be more opposite.
//
The oppression in the South at the time towards people of colour becomes the catalyst for the two finding common ground. That racism is not shown in even a close manner to its actual horror ...
The Mule Movie Review
Earl Stone (Eastwood) is a down on his luck horticulturist whose business and passion has been ruined by changing times and the Internet. He becomes a drug runner out of necessity but grows to enjoy the money and the thrill. Eastwood looks every wrinkle the part and shuffles his way through the performance in a most engaging way.

Poster art to the contrary, the cast is filled with heavyweights like Bradley Cooper and Michael Peña as DEA agents, Dianne Wiest as ...
Final Score and Billionaire Boys Club DVD Reviews
Final Score
You know that any action film built around the big guns of Dave Bautista (Drax from Guardians Of The Galaxy) is going to feature some extreme physicality and in that respect Final Score certainly delivers. What does surprise is there is also elements of humour and of family values. It’s not all just people getting beat down.
The premise is as over the top as the star’s build and involves an entire football stadium (soccer, not American gridiron) being held to ransom. ...
