Laurie Saltair (Isabelle Fuhrman) just can’t catch a break. Too nice to a fault, she has endured a long-distance relationship with boyfriend Jordan (Anirudh Pisharody) due to a family job responsibility and now has to cancel a rendezvous with said beau to cover a shift for employee Marcy (Jenna Z. Alvarez).
Now flying solo running her storage unit complex, she does what anyone in her place on a rainy night would do, veg out in front of a screen and snack out. Her downtime comes to an end when she discovers a body handcuffed to a gurney in a storage unit and so begins a night of terror.
Soon a creepy older man Jules (Don Johnson) arrives at the front desk trying to gain access to a unit that is clearly not his. It’s the one that contains the body. She sends him packing but he soon returns with some henchmen in tow and forces things to explode into a night of violence and mayhem.
It’s to the credit of Director Andy Tennant and Writer Derek Steiner that they turn what is in essence a rather predictable yarn into one that has some genuine surprises and recasts your opinion of the main players once or twice. It is always fun to see a female lead stay true to form and kick butt. This is helped greatly by Fuhrman’s believable heroics and solid performance.
“Unit 234: The Lock Up” is now available to Rent or buy on DVD & Digital at Apple TV, Prime Video, Google TV, YouTube, and Fetch (AU)!
