Opening Night Gala Screenings are coming to Dendy Cinemas!

Make a date with Dendy Cinemas this April and experience all the action and adventure at one of our Opening Night Galas – from past Indian legends to a futuristic dystopian America and a glass of sparkling on arrival.

Celebrate the release of Dev Patel’s (Slumdog Millionaire, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Lion) directional debut with the first action thriller for 2024, MONKEY MAN on Thursday, April 4 at 6.30pm.

Directed by and starring Patel and produced by Academy Award winner Jordan Peele (Get Out, Nope, Us), witness one man’s quest for vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother.

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, MONKEY MAN stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meagre living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

Screening at Dendy Cinemas Coorparoo and Dendy Cinemas Portside from April 4.

Courting some controversy and intended “as a conversation” by writer-director Alex Garland comes the new politically charged action thriller CIVIL WAR on Thursday, April 11 at 6.30pm starring Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny and Nick Offerman as a team of journalists travelling across the United States during a rapidly escalating second Civil War that has engulfed the nation.

California and Texas have united to form the Western Forces in an attempt to overthrow the established government with Lee (Dunst) – a photojournalist, documenting the inhumane horrors of the infighting and the reality of citizens becoming refugees in their own country.
