The HSBC Spanish & Latin American Film Festival returns to Australia from 10 June – July 2026, bringing a vibrant celebration of contemporary cinema, culture, music, passion and storytelling from Spain and Latin America to cinema screens nationwide.

Queensland audiences can experience the festival at Palace Barracks Brisbane and Palace James St, with a spectacular line-up of award-winning dramas, feel-good crowd pleasers, documentaries, romance, music and historical epics.

Festival highlights include the Opening Night film NOTHING BETWEEN US, a charming and intimate romantic drama starring acclaimed actors Gael García Bernal and Natalia Oreiro; the Festival Centrepiece SUNDAYS, winner of the Golden Shell at the 2025 San Sebastián Film Festival and recipient of five Goya Awards; and Special Presentation THE CAPTIVE, an ambitious historical adventure from Oscar-winning director Alejandro Amenábar exploring the early life of Don Quixote author Miguel de Cervantes.

Other standout films include the vibrant salsa documentary LA SALSA VIVE, intoxicating culinary drama ISABEL direct from the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival, and the inspiring true story ANOTHER LEAGUE, following young women fighting for the right to play football in 1970s Spain.

Celebrating its 29th edition in 2026, the HSBC Spanish & Latin American Film Festival invites Queensland audiences to discover unforgettable stories, acclaimed filmmakers and the warmth, rhythm and spirit of Spanish and Latin American cinema on the big screen.
