Australian Cinémathèque’s new free program ‘Staged Directions’ is currently screening!
It brings together classic films (Sergei Parajanov The Colour of Pomegranates 1969; Peter Weir The Truman Show 1998), artist-focused documentaries and films (Matthew Akers Marina Abramović: The Artist is Present 2012; Tsai Ming-liang Your Face 2018) and new releases (Jayden Stevens A Family 2019; Yang Sun and S Leo Chiang Our Time Machine 2019).

The Brisbane International Film Festival is back!

Quilty exhibition is now open at GOMA!
The exhibition extends from Quilty’s early reflections on the initiation rituals performed by young Australian men to his experience as an official war artist in Afghanistan and his campaign to save the lives of Bali Nine pair Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran. It also includes his revisions of the Australian landscape, and raw, intimate portraits of himself, his family and his friends.

Peter Strickland: Capturing the Uncanny
Known for their sensuous atmosphere, Peter Strickland’s films compellingly combine genre, the uncanny and the experimental. Strickland first made his mark in 2009 with the low-budget rural revenge noir Katalin Varga.
