What is it that makes some films age well while others wither on the vine? With the re-release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, this time in 3D, it’s like getting to hang out with an old buddy, the kind that still makes you laugh, even though his sense of humour and taste has never progressed to match his advancing number of years. With the film’s very limited run (one week only), it’s also in line with time spent with the old mate, a little goes a long way
.The film is filled with both technical flaws, like the motorcycle, young John Connor rides being a four stroke and the sound track blaring the sound of a two stroke (a completely different sounding machine) as well as lapses of logic (why not send the Terminator back earlier than modern day to stop the family line). It’s to the film credit that you just forget how preposterous the whole story line is and just enjoy the spectacle and humour. The humour is of special note as it just gets more outlandish and funny with time. “I’ll be back” indeed.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D runs in Cinemas from August 24 for one week only.
