Californian indie-pop vibers Grouplove will be hitting up stages in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in early 2018, delivering their 2016 studio album Big Mess to an Australian audience for the very first time, and to help kick off the party they have enlisted Sydney’s very own rambunctious rock outfit The Ruminaters to crank that dial up to 100!
After a huge 2016 with 25+ dates in Europe and the UK, smashing Bigsound and the success of their lead single ‘Bad Bad Things’ off their sophomore EP I Used To Hate The Ruminaters, Now I Like Them, The Ruminaters have showed no signs of slowing down with a string of east coast headline shows as well as slots at Mountain Sounds Festival, Secret Garden and Party in the Park.
Two years in the making, I Used To Hate The Ruminaters, Now I Like Them was recorded in several studios around the world including the legendary London RAK Studios, which has previously been home to David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson and The Arctic Monkeys. The man in charge of steering their chaotic and unruly ship during these sessions was good friend and producer Rob Brinkmann (Royal Blood, Pixies), delivering a sound described by Rolling Stone as “swamp-rock sing-a-long that boldly embraces the band’s smirk-n-wink streak”.
The lads have recently offered up a taste of fresh new music in the form of a AA Side Single “I Wanna Fight”, along with a cover version of none other than Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing”.
From grizzly, crashing mosh numbers to buoyant rock sing-a-longs, The Ruminaters will be reverberating across the full breadth of rock and roll as they join Grouplove on stage for their Australian shows.
Fronted by the husband-and-wife team of Hannah Hooper (vocals, keyboards) and Christian Zucconi (vocals, guitar), Grouplove also includes Andrew Wessen (guitar, vocals), Ryan Rabin (drums), and Daniel Gleason (bass). The five-piece are renowned for their relentlessly positive live performances, bringing an energy and pure joy to the stage that is rarely seen in modern music.
In addition to headlining efforts at NSW’s Mountain Sounds festival and Tasmania’s Party in the Paddock, Grouplove will be in Australia for three exciting headline dates.
