Freako in name and freako in game. If ever there was an aptly named film it’s Frankie Freako. This is one of those irreverent works that makes so little sense, you just have to let go of any need to dwell in the river of reality and just drift in the waves of weird.
Conor (Conor Sweeney) is an extremely straitlaced and square individual. He works in a mundane cubicle in a nondescript office and has a crooked boss Mr. Buechler (Adam Brooks) to keep him company. When his hot artist wife Kristina (Kristy Wordsworth) leaves him alone in the house for the weekend, things completely run off the rails.
Out of sheer boredom, Conor call the Frankie Freako hotline and unknowingly lets in three puppet freaks into his life. What happens after that could only happen in a world of bad taste and perverted plasticine. Their bad behaviour includes rigging Conor’s house in Home Alone fashion but with guns and transporting him to another world through a telephone line portal.
As things unravel, the crazy ramps up again and again, and it becomes gloriously unhinged. You give up on trying to make sense out of any of it and just submit to its utter madness. It even has an ending that few will see coming. Add this one to the list of bad Christmas films that will help you from retching from that overdose of holiday good cheer.
Frankie Freako is now available to Rent or buy on Digital at Apple TV, Prime Video and Google TV!
