A stunning new trailer for “Avatar: Fire and Ash” from Oscar®-winning filmmaker James Cameron have arrived. Both are available to download and share. The third film in the phenomenally successful “Avatar” franchise opens exclusively in Australian and New Zealand cinemas in IMAX 3D, Dolby Cinema 3D, RealD 3D, Cinemark XD, 4DX, ScreenX, and premium screens on December 18, 2025. 

In addition, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” the Oscar®-winning global box office phenomenon, which was released in 2022 and grossed more than $2.3 billion worldwide, winning an Academy Award® for best achievement in visual effects, will be re-released in 3D exclusively in cinemas for a one-week special engagement on October 2.

Sarah is a biochemist who works for a big tech company and is on the run because of becoming aware of a falsified report on an experimental wheat crop and becoming a whistleblower. It turns out the crop can be damaging to humans. Through a contact with a lawyer who can not help her she gets Ash’s contact details and her plight draws him in.

The impact on Sarah’s life is so great, all she wants to do is give back the document she stole and get her life back. This appeals to Ash in a more personal manner and his loneliness and need for female contact leads to him letting his guard down and bridging the gap that he always keeps between himself and his clients.

Dawson (Sam Worthington) runs the crew of company agents that is tasked with retrieving the documents and his reprehensible behaviour is a perfect representation of corporate maleficence. It’s to the credit of director David Mackenzie and writer Justin Piasecki that they have constructed a story that seethes with tension. This feeling of dread never lets up until the final reveal at the very end.

As unsettling events unfold, his “lucky break” takes a dark turn. The director (Adam Goldberg), aiming for authenticity, subjects the struggling actor to humiliating treatment, forcing him to confront past traumas and accelerating his decline.

Witnessing his suffering, Anthony’s estranged daughter (Ryan Simpkins) turns to the film’s priest advisor (David Hyde Pierce) for help.

THE EXCORCISM marks the sophomore outing as director for Joshua John Miller after an extensive career acting, producing, and writing. He began his career as one of the leads in Kathryn Bigelow’s vampire classic Near Dark.

Miller brings decades of knowledge of horror films to the table, as well as familial connections in his father, Jason Miller, who portrayed Father Damien Karras THE EXORCIST (1973), and his mother, Susan Bernard, who was a Scream Queen.

In addition to Crowe, the film stars Ryan Simpkins (Fear Street Trilogy), Sam Worthington (Avatar: The Way of Water), Chloe Bailey (Praise This), Adam Goldberg (The Equalizer) and David Hyde Pierce (Frasier).

First it must be said that it looks amazing, the combination of 3D visuals with its high frame rate make almost ever frame burn into the retinas. It is so easy to get lost in James Cameron and companies’ collective vision that even the scenes solely devoted to establishing the visual world of Pandora are consistently engaging. It’s so beautiful it almost seems a shame to introduce all the conflict.

But conflict is what sells tickets and the film’s last few reels more than make up for the exploratory nature of its second act. The craft on display during the action scenes are never less than stunning and more than match the imagination and beauty shown in the establishing scenes. The filmmakers have succeeded in creating a fascination parallel universe.

The elements of the story are simple and their connections to the sorry state of our current world are quite obvious. Avatar: The Way of Water works more as a visual feast and in that realm it is most arresting. To be unmoved by the plight of its participants would seem to come down to your ability to get lost in this most sumptuous of worlds.
