KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

The story does have a message and not a particularly veiled one about acceptance of those that you share very little in common with. This is softened via a unique take and look of its main characters. There is also a very Eastern feel to the sense of family.

Ember Lumen (Leah Lewis) is a young female flame that is struggling to come to terms with the place in life her father has mapped out for her. When her life intersects with Wade Ripple (Mamoudou Athie) an aqueous being prone to bouts of gushing tears and warm resolve, her life comes into focus.

Elemental provides everything we want from a Pixar film. It tells a heartwarming story with extraordinary levels of animation skill and a neoteric approach that can be found nowhere else. Please let the overlords grant the talent more opportunities like this to stretch their talents.

The trailer showcases each element—air, earth, water and fire—and what sets them apart according to Ember, a quick-witted and fiery woman who’s always stayed close to home in Firetown.

In “Elemental,” which opens in cinemas on June 15, she finally ventures out of her comfort zone to explore this spectacular world born from the imaginations of Pixar’s filmmakers and specifically crafted for the big-screen experience.

Element City is inspired by big cities around the globe and embraces theorised contributions from each elemental community—from giant pine-tree-like buildings and waterfall skyscrapers to a tornado-shaped arena called Cyclone Stadium.

Joining the previously announced voice cast including Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie as Ember and Wade, respectively, are Ronnie del Carmen as Ember’s soon-to-be retired dad, Bernie; Shila Ommi as Ember’s love-seeking mom, Cinder; Wendi McLendon-Covey as Wade’s stormy and Air-Ball-loving boss, Gale; Catherine O’Hara as Wade’s welcoming mom, Brook; Mason Wertheimer as Ember’s admiring earth neighbour, Clod; and Joe Pera as an overgrown city bureaucrat, Fern.

Signing off the last edition of the most recent trilogy in style, Dominion gets the whole gang back together to join in on the fun and much amusement ensues. The return of Sam Neill and Laura Dern plays out most entertainingly and Jeff Goldblum gets to riff as only he can.

The dinosaurs that escaped at the end of Fallen Kingdom have now inhabited the entire planet and the humans have a real problem on their hands. An evil CEO Lewis Dodgson (Campbell Scott) manipulating things behind the scenes only exacerbates the problems.

While it can be silly and predictable and often returns to themes featured in all the other films this does little to diminish the excitement. It’s tense and engaging stuff and the 146-minute running time flies by. See it with the entire family but be prepared to comfort the young children afterwards.
