Academy Award nominee Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name, Challengers) delivers an unflinching and seductive adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ groundbreaking novella in QUEER, a provocative exploration of longing, identity, and self-destruction. Starring Daniel Craig in a career-defining performance racking up awards attention, this evocative period drama is a searing portrait of alienation and desire.

Set in the vibrant yet volatile expat underworld of 1950s Mexico City, Craig stars as Lee, a disillusioned American grappling with his identity. Seeking solace in a haze of drugs and alcohol, Lee becomes infatuated with Eugene Allerton, a younger, enigmatic man who is both the object of his obsession and a mirror of his own fractured psyche. As their tenuous connection spirals into a tangled web of dependence and rejection, the film delves deeply into the complexities of desire, self-loathing, and the human need for connection.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

With Guadagnino’s signature visual flair and a brilliant score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, QUEER captures the raw vulnerability of Burroughs’ prose while expanding it into a lush cinematic experience. A fearless and unrelenting look at the destructive power of love and the search for meaning in a world on the fringes, QUEER is both a gripping character study and a timeless reflection on the universal longing to be seen.

Queer will be released in Aussie cinemas February 6, 2025!

The wait is finally over. In what may be one of the longest delayed-releases in cinema history (over eighteen months) the new Bond movie is finally arriving in Australian cinemas. Bringing the Daniel Craig chapter to a close, No Time To Die provides a rousing goodbye to one of the best Bonds ever. The action here is relentless, grand in scope and well worth the wait.

The tale this time out is a continuation of the storyline that has underpinned all the Daniel Craig Bond movies. When Casino Royal launched back in 2006, it introduced a much more visceral 007. It began at his inception and featured his first kill. Then throughout successive films, his character weathered huge loss and discord with the realities of his chosen profession.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>//

With such a packed cast, it also prevents the blame from landing on the most famous shoulders as so often happens. To help throw you off the scent, contrasting comic relief is provided by Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc. His Foghorn Leghorn voice (the film’s description, not mine) brings to mind his crazy redneck voice from Logan Lucky.

By film’s end, you will have done your detective due diligence and gone through a number of suspects as they all have reasons to lie. Don’t miss the chance to catch this classic slice of old school magic and support a genre that when done right, is both endearing and entertaining.
