One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life.

Based on the novel of the same name by author Miriam Toews, Women Talking heavily dramatises the real-world events that took place in the Manitoba Colony which was located in Bolivia. This colony was an ultraconservative Mennonite community. These events took place between 2005 and 2009.

A veterinarian from a neighbouring colony supplied some of the men in Manitoba with a spay anaesthetic which they used to sedate entire houses and then proceeded to rape the women in those households. The age of the victims ranged from 3 years old to 65.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>//

The Girl in the Spider’s Web is based on the fourth novel of the Millennium Series and was written by David Lagercrantz, not by the author of the first three books, Stieg Larsson, who sadly passed away in 2004 of a heart attack. The film uses little of that book.

In the context of this new approach, the film is good fun and exotic (in both place and action) enough to offer something somewhat new to action film junkies. It’s big and loud and the girls on screen kick some serious butt. Who says only the boys can have all the fun?

Director Damien Chazelle has a real way with translating written stories into rich human experiences. Actor Ryan Gosling is very accomplished at saying much with just his eyes and that talent is put to full use here. Armstrong’s stoic nature was a partial product of the tragedy of losing a daughter to cancer at the age of two.

These astronauts were surrounded by death and attempting to accomplish something that was never done before in human history, visiting another planet. And as advanced as our world is now with its technology heavy bent, back in the sixties, it was anything but that. You have more technology in your smart phone today than they had in their entire space craft. Theirs was a bravery of the highest order.

There is an almost complete absence in the modern day of events that inspire one to dream. Art will alway inspire and will last the ages but anything in the world of politics or business will fade away in time. These space missions were a rare instance of things coming out of the world of politics that were actually inspiring to the masses. These inspirational events are sadly missed.

On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight. A visceral and intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the film explores the triumphs and the cost—on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues and the nation itself—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
