Being in the outdoors can be tough. The bugs, the humidity, the homicidal maniacs. Harper (Annabelle Dexter-Jones) is out in the woods, enjoying the wilderness and practicing the art of photography when she sees a horrible crime being committed. Of course with the trusted Canon by her side, she has to stop and get a picture or two.

So begins her terrible journey into the darker side of human existence. Along the way, Ravage indulges in almost every backwater hillbilly cliche known to movie kind. Once you dispense with the expectation of originality, you can just sit back and enjoy the carnage. When the damsel in distress meets Ravener (Robert Longstreet) the derangement begins in earnest.

Harper is quite resourceful and using ingenuity while getting in touch with her inner MacGyver she is able to send a few underlings to an early grave and even takes the patriarch of the family down. The numbers game eventually catches up with her and she has to face Ravener mano e womano. The final confrontation and reveal is an eye-opener and shows there is still life and death left in these genre films.

From its very existence being resurrected from the dead (after its original script was leaked) to the now finished 147-minute opus, The Hateful Eight has been bubbling under in the film hype stakes for a long time. That it arrives during the run of the world’s biggest film ever only adds to its antihero status. It’s also easy to forget that in Tarantino’s over 22-year career as a director, this is only his eighth full-length feature film. Love him of hate him, his first seven films have changed the film landscape forever.

His new film is another period piece (that makes three in a row) and plays out like a longhand love letter to his past. The Western is set almost exclusively in one room and is dialogue heavy to the extreme. That it works so effectively at it’s almost three hour running time is a testament to his skill with words and his utilization of the right mix of actors and actions. The violence is extreme in the few moments that it occurs and gives the film its rightfully earned R rating.

Tarantino’s films have always rewarded fans of the medium and the new work is rife with references to his earlier films (Red Apple anyone?) and nods to directors he appreciates (Alfred Hitchcock is first to spring to mind). He also revels is doing things his way, so I can’t see even a power couple like Bob and Harvey having the ability to pare back the extended running time.

Investing time in a QT film is always a safe bet because even if you don’t like his work, he creates film dialogue like no other. Discussing his films with your friends after the screening can be almost as much fun as the viewing itself, so sort yourself out after your mandatory trip to spend time with the Part 4 repeat and settle in for a generous treat of a film both time and content wise.

Thanks to Rialto Distribution we have five double in-season tickets to give away to The Peanut Butter Falcon.

In a classic adventure tale worthy of Mark Twain, a down-on-his-luck fisherman and a young man bent on achieving an impossible dream make their way down the waterways of a mythical American South with the help of a succession of colorful strangers. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson and newcomer Zack Gottsagen, The Peanut Butter Falcon is an inspiring and heartfelt slice of timeless Americana.

At loose ends since the death his brother, Tyler (LaBeouf) has resorted to stealing the catch of other crab fishermen to survive. At the same time, Zak, a young man with Down syndrome, dreams of life as a professional wrestler. They both soon find themselves on the lam, as Tyler is pursued by a pair of angry fisherman (John Hawkes and Yelawolf), while Zak busts out of his care facility and hightails it from North Carolina toward Florida to find the professional wrestling school of his hero, the Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church).

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

With no money, map or even pants, Zak’s plans soon come to a screeching halt, just like Tyler’s battered fishing boat. A chance meeting sets the pair on a path that introduces them to a world they never dreamed existed. Along with Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), a conscientious aide from Zak’s residence who comes to retrieve him, they set sail for a once-in-a-lifetime journey on a makeshift raft through an unfamiliar and extraordinary landscape.

Filmed in and around Savannah, Georgia, The Peanut Butter Falcon is a joyous and uplifting folk story that celebrates the friendship of three unexpectedly kindred spirits. The Peanut Butter Falcon is written and directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz in their feature film debuts. It stars Shia LaBeouf (Transformers franchise, American Honey), Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey franchise, Suspiria), John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone, The Sessions), Bruce Dern (Nebraska, Coming Home), Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, Spider-Man 3), Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher,” The Wolf of Wall Street), rapper Yelawolf and, in a role written especially for him, Zack Gottsagen.

The Peanut Butter Falcon will be releasing in cinemas January 30, 2020!

The outside world is in a strange way, having to deal with beings that have powers, Freaks as they are referred to. They are rounded up and sequestered away in a mysterious location carved into a mountain. Any that are identified are immediately dealt with very harshly.

The film is very adapt at changing your outlook as you are presented with more information. Things that you thought represented a certain view are turned around quite often. All this leads to an ending that will leave you both chilled by the outcome and ready to watch it again with all the new information.
