Forty-one years after the release of the groundbreaking mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, the now estranged bandmates David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls (Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer) are forced to reunite for one final concert.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues also marks the resurrection of documentarian Marty Di Bergi (Rob Reiner), who once again tries to capture his favourite metal gods as they contemplate mortality—and the hope that their 12th drummer doesn’t join them in The Great Beyond.

Your Song celebrates the unforgettable music of megastar Elton John and the memorable moments it evokes for everyday people, reimagining Elton’s biggest songs including “Candle in the Wind”, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “I’m Still Standing”, “Benny and the Jets” and “Tiny Dancer” using powerful stories and personal experiences shared by real-life people.

Deftly fusing these intimate associations with Elton’s worldwide hits is a powerhouse cast including; Andy Cook (Moulin Rouge, Chicago), Marcus Corowa (Bran Nue Dae, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Luke Kennedy (There’s Something About Music, Swing on This) and Irena Lysiuk (The Sunshine Club, Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves), backed by a live band featuring Mik Easterman (drums), Michael Manikus (keys), OJ Newcomb (bass) and Stephen Ward (guitar).

Growing up the only child, Reginald Kenneth Dwight was a shy and awkward young child. With a free spirit mother and physically absent father, only his Grandmother was supportive. He took refuge in music and became very accomplished at a young age.

His early musical endeavours followed a familiar arc, learning the music business from the ground up via a succession of bands and backing gigs. When he started a writing partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin, his craft expanded quickly. Their collective work launched John’s popularity into the stratosphere and with great success came great excess.

Filled with great songs and featuring dance number large in scope, Rocketman leans more towards classic musical territory than the current crop of musical biopics. Almost every cast member gets a chance to sing and the dance numbers expand in scope and imagery to match the excess of substance consumption. Not always easy to watch, the film gives a more accurate view than most in its genre.
