Tickets now on sale for the Qld Premiere of The Australian Dream!

Tickets are now on sale for the Queensland premiere of The Australian Dream, a new feature documentary on the life and career of AFL legend Adam Goodes. Madman Entertainment, Palace Cinemas & the Asia Pacific Screen Awards announced that the premiere will take place on Wednesday August 7, 6:30pm at Palace Barracks Cinema. The screening will include invited guests, dignitaries and will be open to the public.

The Australian Dream uses the remarkable and inspirational story of Indigenous AFL legend Adam Goodes as the prism through which to tell a deep and powerful story about race, identity and belonging.

For the first time Adam reveals his profoundly emotional journey in his own words, and asks fundamental questions about the nature of racism and discrimination in society today. Walkley award-winning writer Stan Grant and BAFTA award-winning director Daniel Gordon join forces to tell this remarkable story of one of the most decorated & celebrated players in AFL history. A man who remains a cultural hero; the very epitome of resilience & survival, who continues to fight for equality and reconciliation.

The Australian Dream is in-competition for the 13th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the region’s highest accolade in film. The film will compete to be one of the five nominees in the Best Documentary Feature Film category, with nominees announced on 16 October ahead of the awards on 21 November 2019.

Featuring Goodes and all the key players from his story, including Grant, Michael O’Loughlin, Brett Goodes, Natalie Goodes, Tracey Holmes, Nova Peris, Nicky Winmar, Gilbert McAdam, Linda Burney, Paul Roos, John Longmire, Nathan Buckley, Eddie McGuire and Andrew Bolt, The Australian Dream is also a deeply personal and comprehensive exploration of Goodes’ own journey which saw him retreat from everyday life only to return determined to rise above the ugliness he had been forced to confront.

Directed by BAFTA award winner Daniel Gordon (Hillsborough), the documentary is an Australian-UK co-production between GoodThing Productions (2040) and Academy Award-winning Passion Pictures (Searching for Sugarman). The film received production investment from Screen Australia, Lorton Entertainment, ABC and Film Victoria.
