As a stage play in 2026, it still works as it sets out on a humble path, just to entertain. It steers way clear of any overt political statement and instead focuses solely on the trials and tribulations of a group of Southern gals. There is a tragic element to the story, but it happens mostly off-stage and adds more colour to the story, which becomes the central theme.
