West End Film Festival (WEFF) – Brisbane’s longest, continuously running film festival – invites movie buffs to pop the corn and raid the candy bar to celebrate its 10th birthday from June 28-30.

The short film competition, held in one of Brisbane’s most vibrant communities, will mark the milestone by doubling its major prize to $3000.

Two new co-directors will spearhead WEFF in 2019: documentary filmmaker Adam Finney and photographer and videographer Anthony Toci.

The duo is working with an industry and community judging panel to curate five screenings of officially selected films across three days.”

Tickets are now on sale with a full schedule for each session released closer to opening night.

“WEFF was founded 10 years ago by a group of local filmmakers to support their industry at a grassroots level and to create an event where the West End community can come together, interact and celebrate our great local screen culture,” Finney said.

“This festival highlights the importance of creativity and connection and has grown to become a celebration of West End’s unique community, culture and diversity.”

“WEFF’s 10th birthday event is the start of something new,” Toci added.

“We have big plans for the festival, both in terms of providing local screen talent with greater exposure and in encouraging a love of Australian film.”

WEFF is an initiative brought to you by the West End Community Association (WECA).
