“Roots Reggae Woman” explores the narrative of a beautiful and natural love in the style of roots-reggae/lovers rock. The single will be released on May 5th, a week prior to the gigs, through all online outlets.

Residing in Brisbane, Australia, Paua includes Maori heritage hailing from Aotearoa (New Zealand) combined with a multicultural collective of musicians from Australia and Philippines. Although band members grew up in vastly different musical backgrounds, they came together for the mutual love of reggae music. Paua, pronounced Pah-Wa, is the Maori word for Abalone which produce a beautiful iridescent shell.

Many of Paua’s releases have hit #1 on the iTunes reggae charts in Australia, New Zealand and abroad, such as ground breaking 2016 album “Sometimes”, conscious 2015 single “What’s It Gonna Take”, and 2014 single “Loosing My Religion” – a reworking of the REM classic. Smash hit “Coming Home” from the 2011 self-titled debut album has become a household favorite and audiences recite the lyrics word-for-word.

The last time the duo were in the country they played two sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as massive festival slots at Falls, Southbound and Field day, with many hailing the psychedelic folk act as ‘stand outs’ of the 2014 festival circuit. With the Sydney Morning Herald posing the question, “How do you know a hit? When everyone at the festival stops what they’re doing and sprints towards the music.” When their song ‘Stolen Dance’ hit the Valley stage in Byron, thousands of punters ran to join in the mass revelry, including the biggest line dance ever performed! It was a magic moment and one of the highlights of the festival.

After two years of solid touring including playing some of the worlds biggest festivals the German duo emerged late last year with ‘Cocoon’, signaling to their fans the arrival of a new album. Widely held as two of Australia’s most outstanding live acts, The Cat Empire & Xavier Rudd will hit the highways together for the first time in January and February 2017 for a series of unique concert events to be held in picturesque open-air settings.
