One of the UKs most important musical exports, The Stranglers announce their return to Australia and New Zealand in 2018 with their biggest tour in 30 years, ‘The Classic Collection’.

Taking twenty of their most popular tracks from their revered album classics, chart successes and fan favourites from across their 40-year history, The Stranglers prove their longevity and impact with tracks including Golden Brown, Always the Sun, Peaches, Strange Little Girl, 5 Minutes, No More Heroes and many more gracing the set list of this special event.

Co-inciding with the planned re-release of the entire Stranglers studio album catalogue from the period 1977-82, The Stranglers will enthral audiences with an exciting mix of material, all bearing the distinctive signature style of this most enduring of British bands; driving rhythms, anthemic melodies, quirky time signatures and occasional dark humour, held together by those trademark rumbling bass lines and swirling keyboards.

The Stranglers are riding high on the crest of a resurgent wave of popularity. They continue to out-rock many on the live circuit, including much younger bands, and their large and loyal fan base has swelled in recent years as new converts join the ranks. With record-breaking, sell-out shows including their 2016 Australian tour and festival appearances throughout the UK and the rest of the world, public demand to hear and see the group has never been so high; true testament to their considerable musical talent and the enduring quality of their songs.

The Stranglers continue to prove they are still a powerhouse live act, with fans in for a treat with the Australian return of an even bigger and bolder show from the inventors and ultimate purveyors of Brit-punk.

The return of Vancouver duo Japandroids for a national Australian headline tour this July has been announced.

The tour comes hot on the heels of the band’s acclaimed third album, ‘Near To The Wild Heart Of Life‘ – released January on Pod/Inertia. The run of dates marks Japandroids’ first visit to Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth in four years with performances taking place in Sydney and Melbourne also.

Japandroids are a two-piece band from Vancouver, BC, which began in 2006 and consists of Brian King and David Prowse. Japandroids are one guitar, one set of drums, and two vocalizers. Japandroids are maximal in their delivery; a two-piece band sounding like a five- piece band. With the release of their second album, ‘Celebration Rock‘ in 2012 the band embarked on what seemed like an endless world tour, performing over 200 shows in over 40 countries, and played their final show in support of Celebration Rock in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November 2013.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>//

They would not perform live again for three years. Their third album, ‘Near To The Wild Heart Of Life‘, was written clandestinely throughout 2014 and 2015 in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City. The title comes from a passage in the novel “A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man” by James Joyce: ͞He was alone. He was unheeded, happy, and near to the wild heart of life.͟

Don’t miss Japandroids’ highly-ancitipated return to Australian shores in July 2017.

The Living End’s 2017 run of Australian shows has received a high-octane injection, with the announcement that a huge line-up of incredible local talent is set to guest alongside the Aussie punk rock legends for their upcoming Staring Down The Highway regional tour.

The trio will be supported by a selection of some of the most exciting future stars of Australian rock, including Melbourne party punk animals The Bennies (all shows), as well as a high calibre line-up of local regional talents.

Speaking of these regional shows, The Living End’s frontman Chris Cheney could barely contain his excitement to be hitting the road again for the performances ahead. “Scott, Andy and myself are getting in the Tarago for a big, loud, sweaty rock’n’roll tour and we got The Bennies coming along with us and they rule!! Hard!”

The news runs alongside the announcement that the band will be joined by several special guests at their run of zoo shows in Sydney and Melbourne this March.

They’ll be joined on stage by none other than Australian rock icon, Jimmy Barnes (Sydney, March 5th) as well as multiple ARIA award winners and revered songwriters in their own right, Josh Pyke (Sydney, March 4th) and Dan Sultan (Melbourne, March 2nd & 3rd). The all-female string quartet, The String Sirens, will be adding to the emotion and ambience of each show as well, while rising Melbourne rocker Gabriella Cohen will be supporting all zoo shows.

Speaking of the shows, Cheney explained each performance would be a unique experience. “There’ll be an acoustic set, an electric set, a string quartet and some seriously legendary guests.”

2016 was a year to remember for The Living End, even for rock icons of their calibre. Having released their ARIA # 5 album Shift in May; levelling their sold out major city national Shift tour; performing on the at the 2016 AFL Grand Final; headlining festivals around the country; and scoring nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Australian Live Act at this year’s ARIA Awards – so far it has been a year in which the kings of Australian rock reclaimed their throne after a five-year hiatus after their 2011 ARIA-Award winning album, The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating.

2017 looks set to tread a similar outstanding path, with not only these multiple tours, but the announcement this week that Chris Cheney will be performing as the lead star of the Australian cast of Green Day’s American Idiot musical.

Cheney will appear in the role of St Jimmy from the show’s opening on February 23 up until the start of the Zoo shows in early March, before being replaced by fellow local rock icon, Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon).

Touring the east coast in celebration of their forthcoming album, Head Carrier, the tour sees vocalist/guitarist Black Francis, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago welcome bassist Paz Lenchatin to the Pixies’ permanent line-up.

Lenchantin has been the band’s touring bassist since January 2014, and played an integral part in the recording of Head Carrier (out September 30 through Pixiesmusic/Play It Again Sam).
