Don’t miss a screening of the 1975 movie musical classic complete with live floorshow by local fan troupe Cards 4 Sorrow.

Whilst you watch the movie on the huge Schonell cinema screen, Cards 4 Sorrow bring The Rocky Horror Picture Show to life as an interactive floorshow on the stage below.

With Time Warping in the aisles! Dress up and sing-along!

“This is the ONLY way to experience this movie,” Fletcher said.

Prebook & save! Bookings are essential. Grab your fishnets and purchase your tickets now at www.kristianfletcher.com

Kristian Fletcher has been hosting these interactive screenings at Schonell Theatre since 2000.

A 1975 British film starring Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry, The Rocky Horror Picture Show began its journey as a London stage musical before becoming the longest running cult film of all time.

A box office failure upon initial release, 20th Century Fox re-opened Rocky Horror at midnight in 1976 and it found its audience. People began attending the screenings in costume, and shouting out lines in response to the film dialogue. From this, the concept of a ‘floorshow cast’ began – casts perform a live lip-synch floorshow on the stage in front of the screen whilst the film plays. Now, 45 years later, audience members are still flocking to screenings of the film all over the world.

Nothing can beat seeing the film with a live cast in costume, and with audience members singing-along and shouting audience participation lines in time with the film.

Steve Martin and Martin Short will bring their critically acclaimed comedy tour Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t for the first time to Australian audiences in November. This celebrated comedy show redefines the form in unexpected and profound ways, from two of the funniest, most influential and acclaimed talents of the past century. The duo will be joined on stage by Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band The Steep Canyon Rangers.

Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t follows Steve Martin and Martin Short’s sold-out tour An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life. The tour was filmed for a Netflix special that earned rave reviews and garnered four Emmy® nominations. Fueled by comedic precision and anchored in a lifelong friendship, Rolling Stone called the special “wryly hip but unexpectedly touching,” with the New York Times describing it “gleeful and satisfying.”

Steve Martin and Martin Short’s humor is often subversive, but it is always a joyous self-deprecating romp from two comedy masters driven to make each other laugh as much as the audience. The jokes come at you at a rapid-fire pace with little set-up and big punch lines as they mock Hollywood and the fickle nature of celebrity, but the comedy truly soars when they lovingly (and relentlessly) roast each other.

Martin and Short’s chemistry and timing on stage reflects a friendship of more than three decades; they met for the first time on the set of the 1986 film Three Amigos. The comedy icons have been touring together since 2016, when they launched their first live show titled “A Very Stupid Conversation.”

Don’t miss comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short! Hurry, this will sell out!

Cirque du Soleil will return to Australia from October this year with its most acclaimed touring show, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities™. KURIOS will premiere under their Signature Big Top on 2 October 2019 in Sydney before bringing this extraordinary show to Brisbane from January 10. Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience inside a fantasy world where everything is possible. In this realm set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality is quite relative indeed as our perception of it is utterly transformed.

Tickets ON SALE from Monday 18 March at 9am by visiting cirquedusoleil.com/kurios or by calling 1800 036 685.

KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities had its world premiere in Montréal April 2014 and since its debut, the critics have been raving across North America: “It is not to be missed on any account,” said Chris Jones in The Chicago Tribune. “KURIOS is the most enthralling, consistently over-the-top magical show Cirque du Soleil has sent our way in a long time,” raved Robert Hurwitt in The San Francisco Chronicle. “KURIOS is the most joyous piece of theater I’ve seen in years and it will lift your spirits to the stars,” said Richard Ouzounian in The Toronto Star. And Misha Berson in The Seattle Times raved, “KURIOS thrills in a splendidly captivating new show.” The Los Angeles Times made it a Critic’s Choice.

In an alternate yet familiar past, in a place where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a Seeker discovers that in order to glimpse the marvels that lie just below the surface, we must first learn to close our eyes. In his larger-than-life curio cabinet, the Seeker is convinced that there exists a hidden world – a place where the craziest ideas and the grandest dreams await. A collection of otherworldly characters suddenly steps into his makeshift mechanical world. When the outlandish, benevolent characters turn his world upside down with a touch of poetry and humor, his curios jump to life one by one before his very eyes.

Michel Laprise, Director, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities
“Ever since my first visit to Australia nearly 15 years ago it has been one of my favourite places on earth. I am thrilled that I can return through the spirit of KURIOS and I hope it will inspire and bring joy to everyone who enters into our special realm of reality under our big top.” Michel Laprise worked in theatre for nine years as an actor, director and artistic director before joining Cirque du Soleil in 2000. At Cirque du Soleil, Michel spent five years as a talent scout before taking on, in 2006, the role of Special Events Designer. In that capacity, he directed the large-scale performance event created for the launch of the Fiat Bravo in Italy (2007); the Cirque du Soleil performance event celebrating Quebec City’s 400th anniversary (2008); the opening show at the Eurovision Song Contest held in Russia (2009); the launch of Microsoft’s Kinect console at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo; and the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 FIBA International Basketball Federation World Championships in Istanbul. In 2012, Michel collaborated with pop star Madonna, providing artistic direction for her performance at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show; he later went on to direct her MDNA tour. Michel co-wrote and directed the VR movie “Kurios: Inside the Box” which won the Daytime Emmy® Award in the Outstanding Interactive Media category.

Tumble down the rabbit hole in Brisbane, Gold Coast & the Sunshine Coast this July!

‘You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.’
-The Mad Hatter-

The New York SMASH HIT production of Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic ALICE IN WONDERLAND comes to life on stage in the most hilarity-filled madcap fun – touring Brisbane, Gold Coast & the Sunshine Coast during these July school holidays. Tumble down the rabbit hole and join Alice, one of literature’s most beloved heroines, in her adventures through Wonderland.

With the cast being summoned from across the country and led by Queensland’s first lady of theatre in Karen Crone, as the Mad Hatter (in a casting twist similar to that of the Cheshire Cat’s smile), this stage production features incredible costumes and sets and is a must-see for children and adults alike – for everyone who loves one of the world’s most-read stories!

Creating Wonderland is NIDA and WAAPA graduate Georgina Walker (Alice), Mamma Mia star James Shaw (White Rabbit), veteran of stage and screen Simon Burvill-Holmes (Queen of Hearts/Cheshire Cat), Karen Crone (Mad Hatter), Oliver Lacey (March Hare), Matilda-award nominated Jackson McGovern (Dormouse/Caterpillar), Queensland stage star Justine Anderson (Tweedle Dum) and Sarah Whale (Tweedle Dee), together with a handful of brilliant puppeteers, who bring to life over 20 unforgettable characters using their ingenious stagecraft and limitless possibilities of imagination.

Australian Producer, Ethan Walker, began this production at the Brisbane Powerhouse in early 2016 and it has since enjoyed sold-out runs all over the world, including in New York & Los Angeles, where it became the highest-grossing show at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood for the last five years. He said it was one of the most universal of all stage stories.

“The original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has been translated into 174 languages. People from all walks of life can relate to it. The same speaks true for our production as we have many international people working on our team. Our Set Designer, Zachary Lieberman is from Los Angeles, our Graphic Designer Yi Ling is from Singapore and our Emmy Award Winning Costume Designer- Diana Eden is from Canada. Throw these talented people in with our Australian Director, Penny Farrow and you have an international group of people being united through the work of Lewis Carroll,” he said.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

“We tell this extraordinary story through actors and puppets. There is something magical about seeing a life size puppet come to life. You truly believe it’s the White Rabbit and forget there’s a Puppeteer controlling him. Wonderland is a very enchanting place, and that enchantment should not be lost when transitioned onto the stage.”

“We have massive mushroom props that the Actors use throughout the performance to tell the story. In one scene the Caterpillar is sitting on a large mushroom, and in the next scene that same mushroom turns into a tree trunk table for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. It’s truly magical to watch. We also have a highly respected Australian Actress, Karen Crone who plays the Mad Hatter. I’ve never heard of a production before who has cast a female into the role of the Hatter. There would be no point in producing a show that was a cookie cutter of every other Alice in Wonderland production. We needed to think outside the box to ensure that this production would be extra special, while at the same time staying true to the essence of Lewis Carroll’s work.”

The ‘entirely bonkers’ story of Alice in Wonderland has delighted the world for generations & this newest incarnation will continue that tradition – dazzling family members of all ages! Don’t be late for this very important date – book your seats now!

We just can’t get enough! As his seventeen sold-out arena dates across Australia and New Zealand come to a close, Frontier Touring are thrilled to confirm that Ed Sheeran will be returning to our beautiful countries to play stadiums this November and December.

Kicking off on November 28 in Brisbane and playing Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland throughout December, the tour will see Sheeran playing his biggest venues to date; becoming the first ever musician to perform an Australian and New Zealand stadium tour entirely solo. Every single sound on stage will be produced by his voice, guitar and a series of loop pedals, filling the stadiums with hypnotising layers of sound.

This will be Sheeran’s second tour of 2015 and fifth visit in four years. His sold-out March/April tour saw him perform in front of close to 190,000 fans across Australia and New Zealand to rave reviews:

‘It takes a special kind of courage to walk onto an arena stage with nothing but a guitar, a loop pedal and your voice, but at the age of 24, not only did Ed Sheeran take Rod Laver Arena with the confidence of a veteran songwriter, he single-handedly blew the roof off… surely Sheeran’s most ambitious tour to date, but evidently his best.’ – The Age

‘…seems to get better and better at commanding attention and filling the biggest of rooms, all on his own.’ – Sydney Morning Herald

‘Seeing Sheeran construct each song right before your ears felt like watching someone weaving a musical tapestry.’ – The New Zealand Herald

‘I doubt that that there’s ever been louder screams in the arena or more passionate singing than there was on Friday night.’ – Stuff.co.nz

His November/December tour will follow over a year of relentless touring across the globe in celebration of his best-selling sophomore album x (out now through Warner Music). The Grammy-nominated Brit’s tour schedule includes more than 170 shows, appearances at Glastonbury Festival, T in the Park and Southside Festival and selling out both London’s Wembley Stadium and New York’s Madison Square Gardens three times over.

x, featuring hits including lead single ‘Sing’, fan favourites ‘Don’t’ and ‘ Thinking Out Loud’ and current single ‘Bloodstream’ (ft. Rudimental), was Australia’s highest-selling album of 2014 and spent six weeks at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart last year.

Adding to the impressive list of achievements and accolades that the 24-year-old performer has received in his four years and two albums, Spotify have named Sheeran the most-streamed artist in the world. In 2014 alone, his tracks garnered over 860 million streams. In the same year he was also named the biggest-selling artist on iTunes in the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand.

Sheeran’s ability to sell out shows across the globe with just an acoustic guitar and a loop pedal to create pitch-perfect harmonies and driving percussion is testament to his prodigious musical talent.

Whether this will be the first or tenth time that you will witness his live show, Sheeran guarantees to have you on your feet and singing along from the first song to the encore. It’s no surprise that the love for Ed Sheeran in Australia and New Zealand is strong and tickets are renowned for selling out almost instantly – be quick to secure yours!
