The Breeders are best known for their album ‘Last Splash’, recorded in 1993 by Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Jim Macpherson and Josephine Wiggs, and released on 4AD. It was propelled by the instantly recognisable “Cannonball” (with the iconic MTV video directed by Kim Gordon and Spike Jonze) and a year on the road—including a support slot on Nirvana’s In Utero tour.

In March 2018, The Breeders returned with ‘All Nerve’ – their first new album in a decade – which reunited the original line-up and earned a perfect five stars in Record Collector magazine, who gushed “The Breeders are a law unto themselves, and All Nerve finds them completely unconcerned with expectation.”

Californian indie-pop vibers Grouplove will be hitting up stages in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in early 2018, delivering their 2016 studio album Big Mess to an Australian audience for the very first time, and to help kick off the party they have enlisted Sydney’s very own rambunctious rock outfit The Ruminaters to crank that dial up to 100!

After a huge 2016 with 25+ dates in Europe and the UK, smashing Bigsound and the success of their lead single ‘Bad Bad Things’ off their sophomore EP I Used To Hate The Ruminaters, Now I Like Them, The Ruminaters have showed no signs of slowing down with a string of east coast headline shows as well as slots at Mountain Sounds Festival, Secret Garden and Party in the Park.

Two years in the making, I Used To Hate The Ruminaters, Now I Like Them was recorded in several studios around the world including the legendary London RAK Studios, which has previously been home to David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson and The Arctic Monkeys. The man in charge of steering their chaotic and unruly ship during these sessions was good friend and producer Rob Brinkmann (Royal Blood, Pixies), delivering a sound described by Rolling Stone as “swamp-rock sing-a-long that boldly embraces the band’s smirk-n-wink streak”.

The lads have recently offered up a taste of fresh new music in the form of a AA Side Single “I Wanna Fight”, along with a cover version of none other than Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing”.

From grizzly, crashing mosh numbers to buoyant rock sing-a-longs, The Ruminaters will be reverberating across the full breadth of rock and roll as they join Grouplove on stage for their Australian shows.

Fronted by the husband-and-wife team of Hannah Hooper (vocals, keyboards) and Christian Zucconi (vocals, guitar), Grouplove also includes Andrew Wessen (guitar, vocals), Ryan Rabin (drums), and Daniel Gleason (bass). The five-piece are renowned for their relentlessly positive live performances, bringing an energy and pure joy to the stage that is rarely seen in modern music.

In addition to headlining efforts at NSW’s Mountain Sounds festival and Tasmania’s Party in the Paddock, Grouplove will be in Australia for three exciting headline dates.

Foster The People have announced that they’ll be playing a pair of extra shows on top of their appearance at Falls Festival 2017/2018.

Foster The People’s third album Sacred Hearts Club is a 12-track effort that joyously flexes the group’s infinite creative powers, fusing neo-psychedelia, punk, funk, electronic, dance and hip hop. Bolstered by a diverse slew of groove-oriented songs, including the infectiously funked-out title track SHC, the synth-fused glide of “Doing It For The Money,” and the psychedelic prowl of “Loyal Like Sid & Nancy,” (complete with spoken-word piece that recalls Gene Wilder’s memorable lines in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory), the band captured a patient, ‘spiritually improvised’ vibe in the studio that set the tone for the entire album.

Foster and longtime touring cohort Isom Innis (he and Sean Cimino became full-fledged members this year alongside original member Mark Pontius, with Cubbie Fink departing the band in 2015) combined their formidable artistic strengths and “chased the music.” The result is Foster’s indelible hooks intricately tethered to fertile, more adventurous beats, the two artists channeling shape-shifting chord progressions over cascading hip hop veins, blast beats, unstoppable dance grooves and snatches of hardcore punk.

The xx will treat audiences to their unique dreamy sound in stunning outdoor venues in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney next January, joined at all shows by special guests Kelela and Earl Sweatshirt.

The xx are Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass, vocals) and Jamie Smith (beats, MPC, production), also known as Jamie xx. Their latest Mecury prize nominated release ‘I See You’incorporates all three members’ talents into a new version of their sound, one true to their roots but richer and more varied.

– The Guardian ★★★★

Supporting The xx at all shows will be Kelela (USA) with her mutable hybrid of house, electro, R&B and hip hop, as well as LA rapper Earl Sweatshirt (USA) following his acclaimed 2015 album, ‘I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside’.

The ‘Evie’ tour kicks off in Brisbane then on to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this winter prior to their scheduled performance at Splendour In The Grass.

Last Dinosaurs emerged from Brisbane’s underground indie scene with 2012 debut ‘In A Million Years’ which put the band on the local and international music map, peaking at #8 on the ARIA Album chart, securing them a Triple J Feature Album and critical acclaim, while single ‘Andy’ landed into Triple j’s annual Hottest 100. The band’s large online presence has generated millions of combined views on the group’s YouTube and Vevo channels. Their continued success has cemented their reputation as ‘the ones to watch’ with the Herald Sun Hit naming them “Australia’s break-out band of 2012” and Indie Shuffle proclaiming “Very big things await for Australia’s freshest Indie-Pop stars.”

A decade on from the critic-certified classic Illinois, Sufjan Stevens finally makes his solo return with the introspective folk suites of his seventh album, Carrie & Lowell.

Having first performed at the Opera House with his neon-explosion The Age of Adz, the 39-year-old artist has become a familiar face to Vivid LIVE – debuting the solar song cycle Planetarium in 2012 with long-term collaborators Bryce Dessner and Nico Muhly.

Now set to open proceedings with an Australian exclusive four-night stand before returning to overseas obligations, Sufjan Stevens will draw from one of the most successful modern songbooks to encompass Christmas classics, regional history, freeways, the rodeo… and the profound intimacies of everyday life.

One small thing. Sufjan likes to keep it in the family. His first band Marzuki was named after his brother, a nationally recognised marathon runner. His step-father and namesake of his new album – Lowell Brams – runs Sufjan’s record label Asthmatic Kitty. He’s also released his own album entitled Music for Insomnia. Sufjan contributes.

Having long ago transcended their lo-fi bedroom project roots in favour of lush soundscapes and dreamy atmospherics, 2014 has been a huge year for The Antlers who in June released their fifth studio album, Familiars, to not unexpected fanfare. Pitchfork heaped praise on the release, gushing, “Familiars is the latest satisfying effort from a band that continues to reward those listeners who give them the attention their elegant, secretly weird music deserves”, while The A.V. Club offered, “With this rewarding album, The Antlers take the band’s wounds and find glimmers of redemption and hope”.

The Antlers too have been touring non-stop around America since Familiars hit the shelves, and with an extensive European tour slated for this coming October/November should also be firing on all cylinders by the time they hit Australia in February!
