2014’s Sadnecessary, the band’s debut album featuring the multi platinum global hit ‘Stolen Dance’ (4 x Platinum in Australia / #4 on triple j’s Hottest 100), earned ecstatic praise from all over the world with ‘Stolen Dance’ taking the coveted number one spot in several countries, becoming “most blogged about act” on Hype Machine and is the 16th most Shazamed song of all time – solidifying the group as one of the world’s biggest breakout success stories!

The last time the duo were in the country they played two sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as massive festival slots at Falls, Southbound and Field day, with many hailing the psychedelic folk act as ‘stand outs’ of the 2014 festival circuit. With the Sydney Morning Herald posing the question, “How do you know a hit? When everyone at the festival stops what they’re doing and sprints towards the music.” When their song ‘Stolen Dance’ hit the Valley stage in Byron, thousands of punters ran to join in the mass revelry, including the biggest line dance ever performed! It was a magic moment and one of the highlights of the festival.

After two years of solid touring including playing some of the worlds biggest festivals the German duo emerged late last year with ‘Cocoon’, signaling to their fans the arrival of a new album. The single has just achieved Gold-status in Australia, while on Spotify the track quickly amassed over 19 million plays and counting. The video has stirred up 4 million-plus YouTube/VEVO views with its gentle and seamless fusion of electronic vibes and folky singer-songwriter flourishes.

The Wombats have an uncanny knack for writing incredibly catchy songs. A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation, featuring indie-rock cult classic ‘Lets Dance to Joy Division’, is a witty collection of dance floor-filling indie pop gems that are loaded with savvy pop culture references, angsty coming-of-age observations and utterly infectious hooks. Selling over a million copies worldwide, the album went platinum in the UK and Gold in Australia, soared up the heart-seeker charts in the US, and was the triple j feature album of December 2007.

It’s no secret Australia has always had a love affair with The Wombats; selling out and upgrading multiple shows across the country and delivering massively energetic festival sets at The Falls Music and Arts Festival, Groovin’ the Moo and Splendour in the Grass.

Beguiling performer and esteemed singer-songwriter, Martha Wainwright, has announced that she will return to Australia for an extensive ten-date run in March 2017.

The Goodnight City Tour begins at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Wednesday 8th March, before traversing the country to take in Sydney, Thirroul, Canberra, Newcastle, Lismore and Brisbane. The tour will wrap up with Hobart, Devonport and Bendigo performances. Tickets are on sale at 10am local time, Friday 11th November.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

On this visit, Martha will be accompanied on vocals and guitar by a three-piece band, comprising drums, piano and bass.

Martha’s new album and first in four years, Goodnight City will be released on 11 November (Inertia), and is poised to be her best record yet. The 13-track album is confessional, impressionistic and dynamic – songs that twist and turn with a surging intensity, showcasing her distinguished songwriting craft and an astonishingly versatile voice; a voice that soars, sighs, provokes and tells secrets.

Goodnight City includes several original works as well as songs written for the album by Beth Orton, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Ondaatje and Glen Hansard. The album was produced by Thomas Bartlett (Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard) and Brad Albetta (Angus and Julia Stone, Teddy Thompson).

‘Around The Bend’ is the stunning lead single from Goodnight City, recently premiering on The Line Of Best Fit, where it was described as, “ as sweetly melodic as it is dramatic with tinges of dark humour.” NPR suggest that the track has “… an air evocative of Kate Bush…”

Martha’s commanding stage presence has taken her to some of the world’s premiere music festivals, from Glastonbury and Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza and V Festival, at which she performed with Snow Patrol in 2007. With an undeniable voice and an arsenal of powerful songs, Martha has sold out iconic venues including NYC’s Carnegie Hall and more.

A late night television staple, Martha has performed live on The Late Show with David Letterman, Later with Jools Holland, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and more, also gracing the set of local ABC program Spicks And Specks in its second season.

Joining Martha as Special Guests on the full tour are local pop duo Oh Pep!. Stadium Cake, the debut release from the talented outfit has been praised by Rolling Stone as “faultless folk-rock”, while Stereogum described it as “instantly captivating”. The Australian noted “…acoustic pop earworms… gloriously hummable hooks” in a 4-star review.

Martha Wainwright is a refreshingly different force in music. Prior to her 2005 critically acclaimed and commercially successful debut self-titled album, she began building a buzz with her well-noted EPs. London’s Sunday Times included the song “Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole” in their songs of the year and Rolling Stone called it “a blistering prelude to her debut album.”

The daughter of folk legends Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III, Martha’s immersion in music from an early age is evident in her command of the stage and her masterful handling of a spectrum of musical styles. Her songs provide a window into her life without artifice or pretension.

Don’t miss this extraordinary performer when she lands on our shores for intimate shows in March 2017.

The legendary English ska band, THE SPECIALS, are returning to Australia for a run of headline shows in 2017. The Specials will begin at Perth’s Metro City on Tuesday 7th March, before heading to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre for an all ages show on Thursday 9th March and finishing up at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Wednesday 15th March, and will be the band’s first local shows since 2012 when they played a string of theatre dates along with Bluesfest, Byron Bay.

Already announced to take the stage as part of the Melbourne Zoo Twilights series, along with appearances at Golden Plains and WOMADelaide, The Specials will be inspiring fans young and old with their unique and genre-defying live set.

Formed in Coventry in 1977, The Specials are one of the most influential groups in UK musical history. The group earned seven consecutive UK Top 10 singles between 1979 and 1981, propelling their first two studio albums, The Specials and More Specials, to gold certification. They combine the angry, disaffected voice of punk with the wind-your-waist sensibility of ska and reggae to re-define pop music. The cornerstone of their reputation is their killer sweat-drenched live shows, and an attitude that walked like it talked.

Since they re-formed in 2009 they have gone on to sell out countless shows around the world and perform at some of the most iconic festivals and events globally, from Coachella and Glastonbury to 2009’s Splendour In The Grass, even closing the UK Summer Olympic Games Festival in Hyde Park in 2012, performing alongside Blur and New Order. They have performed across various late night television programs, including lively renditions on The Late Show with David Letterman and Later… with Jools Holland among others.

Libertines’ drummer, Gary Powell, will hit the road with The Specials when they land in Australia next year; he stepped in earlier this year following the passing of the band’s longtime drummer, John Bradbury, who was widely recognized as a groundbreaking figure in the styles of reggae and ska.

With seven studio albums, five live albums and two EPs under their collective belts, The Specials will be performing songs from their extensive back-catalogue, including crowd favourites like ‘Gangsters’, ‘A Message To You Rudy’ and ‘Ghost Town’.

After visiting Australia for a series of sold out shows in 2013, LA three-piece Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have announced that they’ll once again return for a run of shows to showcase their much anticipated new album, expected in early 2018.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will visit Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth where they’ll be performing a selection of new material as well as crowd favourites from the bands illustrious 19-year, seven album back catalogue, showing why they are one of the world’s most celebrated live bands.

‘Every time we’ve toured Australia something in some way has tried to kill me at one point or another, and always in new and somewhat inspired ways. So I have a great deal of respect for whatever cosmic forces are going on down there. It definitely keeps me on my toes though, which is all you really need to make rock’n’roll I guess. Two good toes and a reason to keep tappin them. -Robert Levon Been / BRMC

Since their debut release in 2001, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have made a name for themselves on a global scale. By fusing together elements of the psych, space rock, noise-pop and classic rock and roll that weave themselves across five acclaimed studio albums, BRMC live shows have often been hailed as events rather than mere gigs; a dynamic showcase of dark, brooding rock mixed with an energetic show you can’t take your eyes off.

Having established herself as a commanding and complex vocalist and lyricist, the songs across TKAY channel a sense of defiance and attitude that could only be wielded by an artist blaring the kind of unique trail Maidza has already achieved in not only Australian hip hop but the Australian music industry as a whole. She brings a dance-ready yet reflective dynamic that endlessly warps genres and shows her affinity for everything from UK garage, grime, throwback hip-hop, and trap. Joining forces with producers like Salva (Young Thug, A$AP Ferg) and Dre Skull (Major Lazer, Snoop Dogg), Maidza continually pushes her music to the exciting edge of chaos but keeps it all grounded with her pop-perfect melodies and masterfully heavy grooves. Meanwhile her lyrics strike a rare balance of boldness and vulnerability that gives TKAY a potent emotional charge.

“The idea behind the album is that it’s like a soundtrack to a high school girl’s life,” explains Maidza, “It’s about feeling lost but then finding your way out. There are moments of confidence and moments of feeling lonely, but at the same time knowing that you don’t need anyone or anything to be strong.”

Nominated for Best International Act at the 2016 BET Awards, Maidza recently lent her vocals to Martin Solveig’s chart-climbing single, ‘Do It Right’ – highlighting the fact that she’s well on her to being an international break out star of the future.
