Pop the champagne corks, Brisbane Festival’s biggest selling show – BLANC De BLANC – returns for a sparkling sequel in 2019.
Featuring the same intoxicating blend of acrobatic artistry and risqué revelry that cemented its predecessor’s place at the top of the box office, BLANC De BLANC ENCORE fizzes and froths at The Courier-Mail Spiegeltent from 5 – 28 September.
“This is the spectacular, entertaining-as-hell encore audiences have been waiting for,” Brisbane Festival Artistic Director David Berthold said.
“Following a sold-out Sydney Opera House season; flirtatious performers, edge-of-the-seat acrobatics, risqué humour, opulent costumes and an all-star international cast are guaranteed to have Brisbane clamouring for another taste.
“BLANC De BLANC holds the box office record for the biggest-selling Brisbane Festival production and I wouldn’t be surprised if ENCORE is the show to knock it from its perch.”
Created by Strut & Fret Production House, the creative force behind Brisbane Festival favourites LIMBO UNHINGED and 2018’s LIFE – the show, BLANC De BLANC ENCORE will see Brisbane Festival’s renowned Spiegeltent transform into a glitzy Parisian parlour for a fizzy party of Gatsbyesque proportions.
Founding Director of Strut & Fret Scott Maidment said The Courier-Mail Spiegeltent stage is set to come alive with some of the world’s most incredible performers and musicians.
“I wanted to push the music element even further in ENCORE and was looking for performers who were an absolute triple-threat. I also wanted to further blur the lines between artist and audience,” said Mr Maidment.
“Returning to the production is incredible choreographer Kevin Maher, and set & lighting design again by Philip Gladwell. We’re turning the dial up on the original with this brand-new show BLANC De BLANC ENCORE.”
Audience members are encouraged to embrace the experience, inject a little French flair and dress to the theme: Vintage white with a dash of sparkle.
BLANC De BLANC ENCORE plays The Courier-Mail Spiegeltent from 5 – 28 September, and is suitable for audiences 18 years and over.
Brisbane Festival opens the doors to 23 days of revelry, revelations and romance from 6 – 28 September 2019. A full program of theatre, music, dance, opera, circus and major public events is available at brisbanefestival.com.au.
