We have all been down there, you know that road… the gravelly one where you mess up the great love of your life, doing what seemed right at the time, living to regret your choices from that day forward. Never moving on, never letting go, holding on to the bittersweet feeling of hope and hopelessness.

Messed It Up is the first taste of album #3 from Melbourne favourite dreamboats, Kingswood. Currently under construction across four studios in Sydney and Nashville. Premiering on triple J, Messed It Up — all sinewy synth-soul compulsion with a restless rock undertow — presages another stunning act of evolution from a band who effectively weave thunderous serpentine space-rock and smouldering falsetto R’nB.

Kingswood have been recording with Nashville producer Eddie Spear (U2 / Lady Gaga / Kelly Clarkson / Brandi Carlisle / Anderson East / Europe / Kaleo) who has effectively been playing the “fifth Beatle” to the band’s creatively democratic, relentlessly expanding visions for the future of rock’n’roll.

With a new manager Damo Costin (VVV Management /123 Agency Director) by their side, Kingswood will wrap up 2018 with a highly anticipated debut appearance at Mondo NYC in early October, followed by extensive touring through the US and Europe.

Newcastle psych-rocker Lachlan X. Morris is pleased to present his new single ‘Stray Dog’, the second single from his forthcoming album Premeditations set for release in October.

Opening with energetic drums, ‘Stray Dog’ fuses a classic rock instrumentation with psychedelic synth lines to create an immersive rock banger. His understated vocals float across the arrangement of the track, before ending with an encompassing and intriguing instrumental outro.

Listen to Lachlan X. Morris’ new single ‘Stray Dog’ here!

‘Stray Dog’ masterfully showcases Morris’ classic rock tendencies, stirred with youthful energy and modern recording techniques. On the track Morris says “’Stray Dog’ is about specific times when I’ve been so overwhelmed in situations and felt the sudden need to get the f*** out!”

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

Weathermaker Music will release two very limited 7” Picture Discs in addition to the album formats (CD, a 24-page book with CD, 2xLP Standard Black, Limited Colored 2xLP, and 2xLP Picture Disc) all will have the same 15 tracks.

“Recording in Nashville with Vance Powell gave us a new and fresh approach towards making an album that truly captures the live energy of Clutch in a way I don’t think we’ve done before.” Says Bassist Dan Maines. Guitarist Tim Sult adds “Laying down guitar tracks with Vance was fun and inspiring. Going through and trying out his and his engineer, Mike Fahey’s collection of vintage amps was one of my favorite recording studio experiences. I think the outro solo of “Emily Dickinson” turned out particularly great.”

“I’ve never been one for nostalgia,” says Neil Fallon, “I’ve always shied away from it. But after 27 years of this, I realize that there is a wealth of stories to look back upon as lyrical fodder. As the saying goes, ‘You don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been.’ Not all the songs reference our collective experience as a band, but ‘Book of Bad Decisions’ seemed like an apt name for these various chapters, whether factual, fictitious or somewhere in-between.”

Enigmatic Melbourne-based, electronic solo artist / producer LIFE IS BETTER BLONDE returns with a blissed-out new single and wonderfully cinematic video clip titled Fires, out now via Create/Control.

“Fires is an empty threat break up. The words are said, but the meaning isn’t, both parties know that it’s not for real” says LIFE IS BETTER BLONDE. The track premiered via the airwaves on triple j’s Home & Hosed show and the clip online via tastemakers Hilly Dilly. Consumed by a virtual reality set in a reimagined 1950s, a player’s longing for motherhood transcends the rules of the game. The stunning video was directed by Natalie Erika James and Ben Morgan, the team behind his earlier clips Mine and Follow Me.

The product of lost and re-discovered voice memos, late-night musings and discarded production scraps, LIFE IS BETTER BLONDE appeared suddenly in 2015 with the supremely glitchy contemporary R&B single Mine, accompanied by a fittingly bizarre music video in which a Japanese salaryman moonlights as an electric organ-player at an American-themed bar in Tokyo. Perhaps unsurprisingly this flamboyant entrance to the scene did not go unnoticed by some of the most influential ears in Australian music, picking up a triple j award for video clip of the year.

Just weeks before the release of their highly-anticipated debut album When We Fall on March 3, All Our Exes Live in Texas premiere their latest heartbreaking yet ever-so-stunning single and video for ‘Boundary Road’. The video drops just moments before the ladies board a plane to take the US (once again) by storm, playing showcases at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City and then SXSW in March. One thing is clear; it’s the Exes’ world, and we are lucky to be living in it!

Getting its first spin on Double J and premiering online via NPR, the track addresses the societal pressure of keeping your emotions together, of being a role model, of not falling apart. Singer and guitarist Katie Wighton notes — it all began simply enough, at breakfast with her mum.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

“Something happened and all of a sudden we were having this huge fight on Boundary Street, in Brisbane’s West End. I don’t even remember what it was about but eventually she broke down and said ‘What if I want to be the one to fall apart once in a while?’ My mum is pretty amazing at pretending things are okay when they really aren’t. I suppose most parents are. This song is for anyone who feels like they have to be strong and brave for those around them. I hope it gives you permission to fall apart every now and then.”

The track is lifted from the ladies’ debut release. When We Fall was produced and engineered by Wayne Connolly (Sarah Blasko, Silverchair, You Am I) and features musicians Zoe Hauptmann (Finn Brothers, Lanie Lane, Paul Kelly), Evan Mannell (Faker, Bertie Blackman, Lior), Dave Symes (Boy and Bear, Sarah Blasko), Tim Hart (Boy and Bear) and Hamish Stuart (Lucie Thorne, Jackie Orszáczky).

A testament to their musical strength and vulnerability, When We Fall is a collection of songs that are enough to make grown men cry. But beneath the sweet, potent harmonies and lamentations of love, lie four witty and intelligent feminists who harness their talent for good not evil.

2016 was the year of the Exes’, after stunning audiences in Ireland, the UK and US; playing their biggest headline shows on home soil and touring regionally with Boy and Bear; tearing up the Australian festival circuit; signing a record deal with ABC Music; being nominated in the 2016 Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition; not to mention a string of nominations for the inaugural National Live Music Awards; recording with (no big deal) Ryan Lewis, the world is ready for folk’s most badass foursome to drop their debut album!

After ending their three-year hiatus late last year with the release of the nine-minute epic, ‘Morning Mist, Rock Island Bend,’ Australian electro-rock pioneers PVT take the next step in their triumphant return today with the release the debut single from their highly-anticipated fifth record, New Spirit.

‘Another Life’ pulses with the same intense energy of its sprawling predecessor, albeit in a comparatively concise four minutes, and despite also being complex in its composition, features a tribal beat and hypnotic refrain that draws the listener deep into the chaotic and experimental dimension within which PVT exist. The track had its world premiere on Triple J’s Home & Hosed program earlier this week, but is now available to listen to online.

LISTEN TO ‘ANOTHER LIFE’ HERE:

“To me, ‘Another Life’ is about expectation and things falling short of that expectation,” says PVT songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Richard Pike. “It’s about middle class ‘aspirational’ desire and their ultimate dissatisfaction. And it’s about my own dissatisfaction with political leaders’ short-sighted and archaic regression of ideas, eating up a country’s own future. Aside from the political rant against new conservatism, which it is, it’s also a personal look at human nature and a hopeful pining for another life. It’s also got a great beat.”

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>

‘Another Life’ is a perfect prelude to themes and sonic textures fans can hope for with the release of New Spirit, which will be PVT’s first album since the acclaimed 2013 record Homosapien, which claimed the coveted title of triple j Feature Album, and praise from the likes of NME and Pitchfork internationally, as well as Faster Louder and Music Feeds locally.

Having established themselves as an international force since their formation in 1999, the trio of Richard Pike, Laurence Pike and Dave Miller has constantly been on the forefront of embracing the evolution of audio technology in their art, all the while earning prestige for producing gritty and confronting music that simultaneously draws from pop and conventional rock to produce a volatile formula – always teaming with new and exciting results, PVT themselves being the only constant.

They have forged a career on constantly breaking the boundaries of expectation and conformity with every new album release, and with the release of New Spirit on February 17, they are looking to stretch further into the realms of experimentation and surrealism with a myriad of soundscapes and musical structures inspired by both the Australian environmental and political landscape.
