The Pinheads have revealed the stirring clip for the title track of their second studio album, ‘Is This Real’. An ode to drummer James “Jimbo” Kates’ Nonno, the clip takes you on a dreamy journey to the streets of Warrawong, to a simpler time and place.

The clip, which premiered on Pile Rats, captures the personal and profound experience of Jimbo’s Nonno, who at 94 years old visits his late-wife’s grave at Kanahooka Cemetery every week like clockwork. Taken on the 7th anniversary of her death, the beautiful and heart-wrenching film tells the story of being with someone for 60-something years, and continuing to be there for them after they pass.

If anything it’s a reminder to myself that we’re all going to die sooner or later, so appreciate what’s in front of you, live your life and treat people right. – Jimbo, The Pinheads

Described by guitarist Luke Player as the “perfect song to fly to the moon to as the Earth slowly implodes behind you”, ‘Is This Real’ is a sobering realisation of the shape of things at present and to come, focusing on human superiority and the treatment of planet Earth. It’s a fight or flight response in the face of a fierce, and oftentimes ugly truth.

Fresh of the back of their warmly received second album, The Pinheads are gearing up to take ‘Is This Real’ on the road this August, with a solid line-up of local Aussie talent ready to join them in wreaking havoc all over sweaty stages in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane and Byron Bay.

The handpicked roster of local legends performing in selected cities across the country will include Bitch Diesel, New Age Group, RMFC, 2 Stroke, Dave, The Uplifting Bellends, Dianas, Smooch, Blistar, The Unknowns and Liquid Face.

Newcastle psych-rocker Lachlan X. Morris is pleased to present his new single ‘Stray Dog’, the second single from his forthcoming album Premeditations set for release in October.

Opening with energetic drums, ‘Stray Dog’ fuses a classic rock instrumentation with psychedelic synth lines to create an immersive rock banger. His understated vocals float across the arrangement of the track, before ending with an encompassing and intriguing instrumental outro.

Listen to Lachlan X. Morris’ new single ‘Stray Dog’ here!

‘Stray Dog’ masterfully showcases Morris’ classic rock tendencies, stirred with youthful energy and modern recording techniques. On the track Morris says “’Stray Dog’ is about specific times when I’ve been so overwhelmed in situations and felt the sudden need to get the f*** out!”

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-9550766590923202" data-ad-slot="4069408586" data-ad-format="link"></ins>//

The self-confessed “psychedelic dad-rock artists” draws from old school songwriting and pop formations, harbouring a bold throwback to 70’s pop music, all with a sprinkling of psychedelia and doomsday themes.

‘Stray Dog’ follows recently released single ‘Turpentine’. The two singles are the perfect taste test of Morris’ forthcoming album Premeditations. Support for Morris’ album is clear, as the artists reached out to his community with a Pozible campaign, and proudly reached his target for crowdfunding his first run of Premeditations on vinyl.

Although the name might not sound familiar, Lachlan X. Morris is no stranger to the music scene. Morris started skipping around the local circuit with his high school band The Guppies, who were finalists in triple j’s prestigious Unearthed High in 2011. The Guppies toured with the likes of Birds of Tokyo, The Rubens, and played at Groovin The Moo, Fat As Butter and Bigsound 2012.

As we welcome Lachlan X. Morris back the circle, ‘Stray Dog’ is the perfect introduction behind the lines of this psychedelic rock fusion.
