Discover the finest short films from Australia and around the world when FLiCKERFEST tours the nation.
More than 20 stunning cinema shorts will be screened across three thrilling nights, all handpicked from the Academy® accredited and BAFTA recognised festival’s record 2400 entries.
Audiences will be blown away by the assortment of cinematic stories on offer, including hot tub entanglements, ice cream frenzies, mischievous mechanical mishaps, late-night radio revelations, runaway chickens, fearless fathers, fly-away mothers and sparring siblings.
Australian FLiCKERFEST filmmakers who have gone on to make their mark in the industry include Julius Avery (Son of a Gun, starring Ewan McGregor released late last year), Sundance awarded director David Michod (Animal Kingdom), Cannes Film Festival Winner Warwick Thornton (Samson and Delilah) and Ariel Martin who is currently working alongside Neil Armfield on the highly anticipated Holding the Man.
A number of films from FLiCKERFEST 2014 have been shortlisted for an Academy award this year, including Butterlamp, The Phone Call and Summer Vacation. The Irish short Boogaloo and Graham and the Canadian-Norwegian animated short Me and My Moulton which will both screen during the Best of International 1 Program have also been nominated.
Diamonds might be forever, but FLiCKERFEST is not – be sure to get your tickets before this license to thrill expires and it’s a wrap on Brisbane’s best short run of short films!
