Scripsi Scriptum

Helpmann Award-winners EDC return to the Performance Space of the Judith Wright Centre of the Contemporary Arts with the Australian Premiere of Scripsi Scriptum this March.

50 years ago, a letter from Swizterland would have taken six weeks to arrive, now the digital revolution means a world instantly connected. Both old-fashioned letter writing and new-age social networking between dancers from Brisbane’s own EDC and Switzerland’s Cathy Sharp Dance Ensemble has given rise to two new dance works which cross the cultural divide and give pause for thought on the fine art of communication.

Having premiered in Europe to critical and audience acclaim in late 2011, Brisbane dance lovers now get the chance to experience Scripsi Scriptum and be treated to the best in both European-styled and home-grown contemporary dance.

Two Countries. Two companies. Shared themes.

"Both Sharp and Weir allow plenty of space on stage for the personalities of their dancers. Both paint imaginative pictures with their choreography that speak to the audience and retain their distinctive personal vocabularies."
Badische Zeitung (German newspaper)

“This prolific company, under the choreographic direction of Natalie Weir, are producing some of the finest contemporary dance works to come out of Australia in recent years”
